Another wonderful engagement session in DC and despite the frigid temperature...this couple did awesome! We originally wanted to shoot on valentine's day but due to the constant change in weather, from snow to freezing wind, we had to reschedule. Ugh! But the natural light on this beautiful, rescheduled day, was perfect! If you notice, in the picture of them in front of the ice skating rink, you will see they have some admirers in the background. As they should! :)
I had the privilege of shooting a beautiful couple over the weekend at the Lincoln Memorial. Honestly, this was my first time at the memorial (yup, I live in DC) and it is breathtaking. On a photographer's perspective...it's an amazing location to shoot! From the white floors to walls to pillars....it does wonders for pictures. The location was surrounded by tourists, of course, so we were lucky to find a semi-private spot to do the shoot. This couple did absolutely phenomenal! You could tell love was in the air with them. Then we went over to the bench where the proposal happened (well a bench pretty close to where it actually happened...tourists were everywhere!) And the chemistry definitely showed up even more at this location. I like to tell my couples to just have a conversation, tell a joke, whisper in their ear....and the reaction from there gives me some great shots!
My first engagement shoot! I was extremely excited this day and also extremely nervous. Entirely too many thoughts were running through my head....what if i don't capture any good shots? what if i don't capture the chemistry? what if i loose the perfect sunlight?!! lol. And thankfully, I was nervous for nothing. They were in love with all of their pictures. I would say that this couple was the easiest too shoot. Their chemistry was effortless and it showed in ALL of the pictures. The location we picked couldn't have been more perfect. We shot at the Smithsonian Outdoor Gallery and we had a ton of spots to choose from.
A look into some of my photo sessions...
